ephemeral objects (she/her) is a Chinese-Vietnamese-Canadian interdisciplinary artist, VJ, DJ, and sound artist based in Vancouver. Her visual practices merges original generative videos with real footage, crafting her unique style of audio-reactive, high-energy abstract visuals. Her work is a collaborative experience, sculpting visuals to diverse genres of music and providing a visual interpretation of sound alongside the artists/DJs she performs with. As a resident of Acceleration Radio, an open format FM radio, live stream, and events collective focusing on A/V experimentation.

In addition to her visual artistry, ephemeral objects enjoys making ambient, noise, drone-inspired music through semi-modular synthesis. Her live visual and sound practices are deeply influenced by her academic background in sociology and cultural anthropology from Simon Fraser University, where she earned an MA in Anthropology. She also views her practice of live visuals as increasing the accessibility and furthering the affects in-person music events.

ephemeral objects has performed at music events and festivals in Vancouver, including Fountains, New Forms, and Lobe’s MOTHER CLOUD festival. She is an experienced researcher, educator, and workshop facilitator, dedicated to furthering the interdisciplinary connections between her visual work, sound exploration, and academic interests in the affective experiences of art and music.
